A national campaign of solidarity for those who in need was launched by the supermarket chain Coop Alleanza 3.0, attended by one of Bologna’s well-known charity workers Roberto Morgantini.
It’s called ‘Donate your shopping’ and is the foodstuff collection of basic necessities promoted in over 550 Coop sales points throughout the national territory and involves about 630 associations. In addition, there are 96 points of sale by Unicoop Firenze, in which collections were made a month ago. Anyone can directly contribute by choosing products to donate (such as biscuits to pasta, oil, flour, rice, hygiene products for women and children). Simply buy them as normal and after passing through the checkout deliver them to volunteers, Coop members or representatives of the beneficiary associations.
This is the first edition of a project that will be repeated throughout the autumn using an increasingly widespread distribution network. The importance of this initiative cannot be underestimated since the last data recorded by Istat has calculated that 4.5 million people in Italy are suffering from conditions of absolute poverty.
