Summer time in Bologna is a revealing period for road works. It seems that they all kick off at the same moment as people escape the city. However, the most anticipated project lately has been the one that began recently in piazza Maggiore for the construction of two access ramps on to the raised platform in the middle of the Piazza.
The works should have started in June, but were subsequently blocked by the Superintendent of Bologna due to some sort of confusion or technicality with the Municipality, in other words, work stalled for bureaucratic reasons. Now that they are in progress the minor change to the piazza is set to be completed by September 9th and will involve creating two semi-circular ramps along sides of the rectangular granite platform. The ramps will naturally follow the same design and colours of the historical pavement as approved by the Superintendency.
