The Randagio was one of the premises damaged substantially during the explosion on 13 of August but with all hands-on-deck they managed to clear away the debris quickly, repair most of the damage and get back on their feet in no time. Councillor for Insieme Bologna Andrea Spettoli (along with his colleagues Vincenzo Ritacca and Alessandro Franceschini) told Bologna Press, “We wanted firstly, to help those of our constituents who were badly affected after the explosion by demonstrating it’s business as usual, and secondly, to show how our city can work together in the face of such terrible events.”

Guido Milesi, manager of Il Randagio proudly explained how they “managed to make the place safe, while more adjustments can be made afterwards.” He was very tired but satisfied with their staff putting in the extra effort to reopen so quickly. Their head waitress however, is still in hospital as she suffered more than the others.

“She was accompanying customers to the door,” Spettoli described, “when the blast of the explosion threw the main door against her. I saw her in hospital and she has eye and ear injuries, which the doctors are still concerned about so our reunion is also about remembering those people who will need a lot more time to recover.”
