It’s an annual event that manages to bring “the whole world to a small village” and after each occasion wins new acclaim. The Popoli Pop Cult Festival of Bagnara di Romagna celebrates its X edition from 28 June to 1 July.
To celebrate the milestone many more new and exciting initiatives will take place during the event that in 2017 saw more than 15,000 visitors converge in Bagnara di Romagna consequently confirming the success of the event initially created to bring together different people and cultures.
Europe: theme of the year
The X edition of the event scheduled from June 28th-July 1st.

Over 15,000 visitors expected
The tenth anniversary of the festival is dedicated to ‘EUROPE’ after a contentious year but with a future full of new challenges.
The formula includes a full immersion of shows and food stands interpreted and managed by artists and chefs from many countries, flanked by an exhibition that this year will be enriched by an absolute novelty: ‘DJs’ from the World’. Each evening world-renowned DJs’ will play many musical genres to the public.
And two years after his first appearance, the Leone Man will return this time on stage at Piazza Marconi, after successful touring in 2016.
The guests of honour list includes Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Region, Massimo Mezzetti, Councilor for Culture of the Region, Stefano Manservisi, Director General for International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission and S.E. Cao Chinh Thien, ambassador of Vietnam who will take part in the event. Together they will be on stage of the Festival on Saturday 30th June for the award ceremony and to greet the public.
To judge the best dish of the Festival the new star of Masterchef, Ukrainian Kateryna Gryniukh will be one of the judges.
“Through this edition of the Festival we want to rediscover the meaning of Europe and the original motivations that have supported the path towards union.” explained the mayor of Bagnara, Riccardo Francone. “The choice of focus is not accidental and falls into a phase of extreme difficulty linked to the sense that today Europe has. We wanted to offer our contribution to rediscover the reasons that motivated and supported the path towards the creation of a united Europe and the beauty that comes from sharing a common identity, because basically, as Moro declared in 1975, ‘It unites our history. It unites us with a purpose of peace’. All this is also a stimulus to face the important challenges of the present, to build a better European future.”
Massimo Bellotti, artistic director of the Festival added, “Birthdays are always an important occasion to remember the beginnings and draw a balance sheet. Only four years ago there were about ten food stalls at the Festival. Today they are 23. The Festival has established itself in these years in its forms becoming more and more authoritative. This year we have the presence of representatives of the European Commission, of the highest offices of the Region and of the Province, of mayors from the countries present at the Festival and the ambassador of Vietnam. Important results that confirm how the Festival has grown and is increasingly loved by the public. Not to mention the importance that Popoli has for all those who, like the foreign volunteers of the stands, participate in it and experience it as an opportunity to be known in an increasingly passionate and informal way. The theme chosen this year,” he continued, “is very close to my heart as a strenuous supporter of Europe. Today the situation is worrying, the real reason that pushed and motivated the creation of the European Union, the original spirit, has been lost. A contribution to this aspect was a must.”
