It was only a matter of days before Marconi Airport hit the milestone due to the increased airport traffic compared to last year. “The rise in 12% represents an incredible feat by all those who put in the effort to make it possible,” reported a spokesperson.
To celebrate the event, the president of the airport Enrico Postacchini and CEO Nicola Ventola waited in the arrivals hall to welcome the first person who represented the new Bolognese record – and it happened to be Roberta Manfroni. She had just stepped off an Air Berlin flight from Düsseldorf. In addition to a celebratory toast, the traveller was presented with unfettered access to the Marconi Lounge for the whole of 2017.
Bologna Marconi Airport recorded the highest growth rate since 2015 having received 6,889,742 passengers. Whereas by the end of 2016, it’s predicted that Marconi will welcome approx 7.5 million passengers.
